Ayahuasca

The sacred Mother Tree Ayahuasca is an entheogenic medicine, a medicine allowing us to contact our divine capacities.

She will not force our will. Human will is free, that is the first and most profound law. So even Ayahuasca will not make anyone a good person, but will respond to the will the individual has chosen to manifest.

Ayahuasca can also be used by people with a bad will and this has happened extensively. It really is important to be careful in choosing a Shaman with integrity, when embarking on this adventure.

Having said this, Ayahuasca is not a synthetic drug, she is a living, intelligent tree-spirit and therefore she will not allow criminal energy to prevail over a person with a good will. But the journey can become a little more or less difficult, depending on the wisdom in chosing one's pathfinders for the trail.

Here is a good little video clip on how Ayahuasca works on the brain:

and a more in depth documentary, very extensive, and I am putting it here because people crave information. On the other hand, documentaries tend to feature the more spectacular accounts and leave out the many times, where nothing much appears to happen. This is normal and happens for everyone, who takes Ayahuasca on a regular basis. The experiences are taylor-made for every individual, everyone gets "what they deserve" also with regards to what setting one chooses, which companions are present. I personally am a lot more in favor of a natural environment, it does not have to be the rain-forest, but I would not have recommended a hospital room, as is reported in the documentary. But then for some people, even this may be appropriate.
The thoughts and interpretations of the experiences are less important and as accurate or inaccurate as the mind can be, when attempting to get a grip on the not-mind.
As personalties we have the problem of identification with our mind and Ayahuasca could help us to behold the fact, that in our entirety we are not only our mind, but there are aspects of our being, that we are completely safe with, our emotional perception feels at peace with and very uplifted by, but this mind-identified self cannot really grasp and control this part of our being with descriptions, definitions and language. The alienation originates in our thought-mind, in our craving for definitions and knowledge. If we embark on the journey out of curiosity, out of desire for drama and sensational experience, we will have a completely different "trip" than if we partake of the medicine in a spirit of service and surrender to our highest purpose, which is healing of ourselves and our world.
My own experiences were very little like the ones described here. I never had this experience of alienation of separation. I always felt I was centered, even though my perceptions showed me unusual sights and sounds, far away places and knowledge of things poured into me, that I previously did not even know, that I did not know it.

There is a wealth of scientific study, one of the most intriguing findings is:
" The ayahuasca users had higher scores in cognitive tests and lower psychopathological indices compared with the control group." - while there is "No evidence of adverse psychiatric or neuropsychological effects found in study of long-term ayahuasca users."
